Materials: Carbon steel, stainless steel (SS304, SS316), cast iron, bronze, , alloy steels, etc. 

Purpose: Encloses the filter basket and directs the fluid through it.

Made of perforated metal or wire mesh screen (SS304/SS316 common) 

Removable for cleaning

Can be single, double, multi-cylinder or pleated design based on application 

Usually bolted or quick-opening clamp design for maintenance access 

Provides sealing and access to the internal basket.

Optional ports allow flushing out collected solids without full removal of the basket element 

Nominal Pipe Sizes: typically from ½″ to 24″ or larger (DN15 to DN600+) depending on manufacturer and requirement 

Micron Ratings: Commonly 25 µm up to 3000 µm or more (customizable to application) 

Available in classes such as ANSI 150, 300, 600 and up.

In some heavy industrial designs, rated up to high pressures (e.g., 325–400 bar) depending on material and design. 

Temperature capability depends on materials and sealing

• Stainless steel designs may handle well over +450 °C

• Plastic (PP/UPVC) types are limited to lower temperature service (e.g., up to ~80 °C for PP)
